That gush of wind leaving Ralph Wilson Stadium wasn't a late gust from Hurricane Irene. It was quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and his offensive teammates breathing a sigh of relief.
Under the gun after two lackluster preseason performances, Buffalo's first-unit offense was impressive in Saturday's practice game against Jacksonville, a game the Bills' backups eventually pulled out 35-32 in overtime.
Fitzpatrick, who completed just 6 of 16 throws a week earlier against Denver, completed his first 11 attempts against the Jaguars, led three quick scoring drives and built a 17-0 lead.
The Bills, who must trim their roster to 80 players by Tuesday, wrap up their preseason play against Detroit on Thursday at home.
